Dumfries and Galloway Sustainable Food Partnership

Lockerbie in Bloom are a community garden passionate about growing healthy food for their volunteers and to share amongst the wider community.

The orchard is an amazing place that supports  sustainable, local fruit growing and provides an essential educational resource for the school and wider community.

The lunch club meets every Wednesday - around 40 people attend for  is soup and

sandwiches and social connection.

Eastriggs Primary school grow fruit and veg in raised bed and polytunnel, and have chickens!

Moniaive Community Garden is a space for growing and sharing food with the community.

Lockerbie Old School Lunch Club is a space for folk to get out, meet other people in a warm space and get a good meal

Dumfries International Street Food Festival aim to demonstrate how our area benefits from the arrival of people from different cultures and backgrounds, by involving as wide a variety of cuisines and  community groups as possible

Annan Day Centre offers low cost Food at our centre 4 days a week and give people the chance to eat a healthy meal with fresh ingredients in company

The Garden at the University of Glasgow Dumfries Campus is a space for learning, nurturing community and growing healthy food to share.

Machars Churches Basic Foodbank is a friendly place to access food and other essentials. There is always a pot of soup, tea and coffee. Anyway is welcome to come in for a chat.

The therapy garden is a place where veterans can come for support, self-help and to find peace to begin the journey of recovery

The project distributes suprplus food from supermarket supply chains to households in food insecurity

Potters Garden in Stranraer sets an example in sustainability and healthy lifestyles: offering training, employment and  volunteering opportunities for people with additional support needs.

Closeburn Community Garden is part of a wider community initiative through the Nith Valley Leaf Trust. They have a n orchard and grow huge amounts of fruit and vegetables.

The Old School in Thornhill aims to reduce social isolation, reduce hidden poverty and encourages creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation.

The KPT Community Garden in Penpont is a wonderful place for people to produce food for the community, is a space for wellbeing and provides the chance to socialise.

The passion behind this garden project is to grow plants and food for the community, to give people an option not to go to the supermarkets.

Sandside is a community garden in Dumfries which provides free food and volunteer opportunities to the local community

Make/Change Collective currently runs several food themed projects, including Moffat Soup; the What If? Film Club; and Make/Change  Mondays

A 5 acre garden within HMP Dumfries, producing fruit and vegetables for the prison, and supporting health and wellbeing.

KBT Community Cafe offers a warm and welcoming space to all  - providing hot, nourishing soups and stews, bread, fresh salads and delicious desserts.

Apex Stranraer provides nutrionally balanced food to people experiencing hunger and in food crisis.

Glentrool Community Garden - AKA Sow it, Grow it, Love it, Eat it - is a volunteer run community space growing food and increasing biodiversity.

The Fed Up Cafe aims to reduce social isolation and increase skills, through cooking and serving great food. They also run a community larder.

Kate's Kitchen is a community food hub with a cafe, community garden and outreach services.

Stepping Stones Larder and Foodbank is based in Castle Douglas, and is a way for people to access food with dignity.

Lochmaben Community Gardens is a volunteer growing group that uses the space on Loch Mill Corner to grow food for all of the community to share.

YMCafe is a community cafe in the YMCA building, Lochside Dumfries. It offers accessible and affordable healthy food in an incusive environment.

Gatehouse Kitchen Garden is a community growing space next to the Mill on the Fleet.

Eskdalemuir Community Garden is a new volunteer led project to transform a communal space, and grow food for the village.

Incredible Edible Stranraer is a community growing project, providing opportunities in learning, growing, health and wellbeing to the whole community.

South Machars Community Fridge combats food waste by redistributing it to people in the community on a 'pay as you feel' basis.

MAC CAN croft is in the village of Whithorn in the Machars. providing hands on experience of this gentle approach to working with the land.

The Three Villages Café is a not-for-profit community café based in the village of Penpont. A community hub for people to meet and relax, while providing good food at a reasonable cost.

A community garden at Stewartry Rugby Club on the old Dumfries – Stranraer railway line. 

Surplus food grown is donated to Stepping Stones Foodbank.
